MODERN INTERIORS IN TÜRKİYE SYMPOSIUM IV
June 8-9, 2026
Bahçeşehir University, Faculty of Architecture and Design, Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design
CALL FOR POSTERS
The Poster Presentations within the scope of the “Symposium on Modern Interiors in Türkiye IV” aim to realize a comprehensive and participatory documentation study that will play an active role in the better understanding and preservation of the modern interior by transcending the boundaries of existing literature.
Participants contributing to the symposium with a poster are expected to introduce examples of modern interiors produced between the 1920s and 1980s. The event aims to draw attention to previously undocumented examples of 20th-century Turkish architectural interiors and to create a discussion environment where the interiors of the period will be reinterpreted through new perspectives.
By diversifying the docomomo_tr Poster Presentations event—which has gained continuity through intense participation—with interior examples, it is hoped that significant progress will be achieved in expanding the documentation study targeted by the docomomo_tr Interior Committee, as well as drawing attention to the modern interior design heritage in our country and sharing it with wider audiences.
Participation Conditions and Process:
-
Applications must be submitted via e-mail to “docomomotrint@gmail.com” no later than April 24, 2026, by 23:59. Participants may apply with a maximum of two posters.
-
The application is completed by filling out the ‘Interior Promotion Form’ (in Word format) according to the template provided in the link below. The form must include accessible original visual and written documents regarding the interior. Additionally, one original or contemporary visual material (a tiff file scanned at a resolution of at least 300 dpi, with the long edge being 15 cm) must be submitted.
-
In the selection of subject proposals, interiors presented in previous periods should be taken into consideration, and the same subjects should not be re-addressed. Previously presented works can be accessed at https://www.docomomo-tr-interior.org/envanter. Furthermore, for proposals concerning well-known buildings and settlements that have been published in various sources but have not yet been featured in docomomo_tr Interior Poster Presentations, the submissions are expected to contribute information beyond what is already available in the literature.
-
The results of the accepted applications will be communicated to the participants by May 18, 2026.
-
For the accepted posters, an abstract of 200-350 words introducing the interior’s general features and its values worthy of preservation must be prepared according to the ‘Poster Abstract Text Format’ and sent via e-mail to docomomotrint@gmail.com by May 25, 2026, to be included in the digital Book of Abstracts.
-
To be exhibited in the foyer area during the event, the A1-sized poster—prepared as a pdf and/or psd file according to the ‘Poster Format’ and introducing the accepted interiors with visual and written documents—must be sent via e-mail to docomomotrint@gmail.com by June 1, 2026. If the poster files are larger than 15 MB, applications must be sent via a download link (Google Drive, etc.). Additionally, hard copies of the posters must be sent by mail by the end of the working day on June 1, 2026, to the following address: “docomomo_tr Modern Interiors Symposium in Türkiye IV, Bahçeşehir University - North Campus (Faculty of Architecture and Design), Abbasağa Mah. Ihlamurdere Cad. B Block 8th Floor, Beşiktaş, Istanbul.” Posters should be printed in color on 160g matte paper and shipped in a way that prevents damage.
-
Participants are expected to prepare and present a 5-minute oral presentation introducing the interior they have studied.
-
Certificates of participation will be awarded to all authors of the posters presented at the event.
-
Only the posters presented at the event will be included in the Book of Abstracts and added to the docomomo-tr-interior inventory.
